I just wanted to let you all know that Jean is very poorly at the moment.
About 3 weeks ago she damaged the muscles in her knee which was replaced some time ago. Ever since then she has been confined to bed, in tremendous pain, waiting for it to heal. On Saturday she had a high temperature and was taken into hospital. They thought the knee was infected and were going to give it a washout on Sunday. However, when they opened the knee it was full of pus and the bone and even the metal was infected so they had to remove the knee. I spoke to Steve this morning, it has been such a shock to them both, they were told it might not be possible to put in another replacement but that she should eventually be able to weightbear on it.
Steve said Jean is much more comfortable now the knee has been removed and she is on antibiotics but they don't know yet how long she will be in.
Poor Jean, your prayers and good wishes will help I'm sure. I'll keep you updated as to her progress.

Love Doreen xx

Gosh, what an awful thing to happen, poor, poor Jean, no wonder she was having so much pain. I was just thinking that I have not seen her posting for a while.

Please give her my very best wishes when you are in touch with the family again Doreen, I shall be thinking of her and really hope that she will be feeling a bit better soon.

I spoke to Steve this morning and Jean is definitely on the mend now, feeling much more comfortable.
The physios have told her that even without the knee she should eventually be able to walk again so that's good news.
I will pass on all your good wishes , I could print out the page and send it to her because I'm not sure how long it will be before she gets back onto the computer.

Love Doreen xx

So sorry to hear about Jean and her infected knee. How awful she has had to have the replacement taken out, sending all good wishes and hoping they clear the infection quickly and have another knee put in. What an awful ordeal, my knee got infected 3 years ago, luckily they managed to clear the infection but the pain was horrendous.

Get well soon Jean and hope the next knee op is successful.

Love

Get well soon Jean. Gosh, what a shock and a terrible time for you and your family. I'm so pleased that there is optimism about you being able to walk again in the future and glad that the nasty infection is now being eradicated. It must have made you feel absolutely dreadful throughout your whole body! Sending healing thoughts and soft hugs your way Jean xxx

I've just spoken to Steve and Jean is much improved, she's complaining about being in there now so she's obviously feeling better! They have said she will probably be in for another week at least.
I've passed on all your good wishes.

I'm fine thanks Liz, doing quite well on humira.
It is frightening how these infections can occur isn't it?
Are you still on the antibiotics?

That's good to hear Doreen, so glad the Humira is working for you.

No, the courses of antibiotics did a good job, infection settled and they went ahead with another round of Rituximab in the last couple of weeks ready for my third cervical spine fusion on 1st Oct. Keeping everything crossed it will go OKThumpUp

Do hope Jean continues to get stronger and home from hospital asap, where we all aim to be:-)

Take care,
Love Lizxx
